Daily Devotions with Kwok Choy (#3)

WOW! I have to apologize for yesterday, cause I barely made it! I published the post at 11:59, but that is still called Friday! :P

Daily Devos! Yay! I enjoy doing these, and according to my blog, no one has read them yet... But I will continue to do this amazing thing!

Today's devotion comes from Genesis 6-9

Putting 3 chapters is quite a lot... so I am going to just give you the headings.
Wickedness in the World
Noah and the Flood
God's Covenant with Noah
The Sons of Noah

Wow... Genesis is such a monumental book. The creation of the entire world, the fall of man, and the flood!
If you are pretty familiar with the story of Noah, I might bring up a part of the story that some may never have recalled. (Prior to this, God reduced all of our years to about 120 years) Well, why the flood? People say it is the wickedness of the Earth, that is but half the answer, look at verse 4 of Genesis 6

4 The Nephilim were on the earth in those days—and also afterward—when the sons of God went to the daughters of humans and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, men of renown.

If I interpret the verse correctly, I will be surprised, cause this is a heck of a verse, so little details, and so much confusion.
First, who are the Nephilim? According to the verse, it says they were sons of God. Later in verse 5, God says how much wickedness was on the Earth, so these Nephilim could not have been good. These must have been fallen angels! Fallen angels who made babies with humans.
(Can't take all credit here to my own self, I learned this in Bible class)

So that is what I believe to be 1 reason God flooded the Earth.

BTW, people believe that the Grand Canyon happened by erosion over millions of years, I believe that only the flood could have done something like that!

So Noah is instructed to build this ark, (because he was a righteous man), this was no 3 month thing, it took a long time, years even, and was commanded to take a pair of each animal. (How would you get tigers and lions on the ship? I believe that Noah chose baby animals, so that they wouldn't be as harmful)

People look to the ark as something that was really nice, Goodness! People made little toy arks for kids, with pairs of animals. They even have a museum in Hong Kong devoted to Noah's Ark. People don't realize the flood is one of the worst things to have occurred to the Earth. People might have imagined this as a lovely cruise to safety, but no it was terrible, looking outside of the ark, to see screaming people, dying, and animals screeching, and once everything had died, looking at rotting carcasses floating on top of the water, young and old, male and female. This was no vacation ya'll. This was a thing that was so terrible, that God promised to never do it again in his covenant to Noah.
Look around us now, sin is all around. Lots and lots of sin, look at our figure heads, wayward politicians, child molesters, murders, If God did not promise to Noah he wouldn't flood the entire Earth ever again, I wonder if there wouldn't be another flood.

THINK ABOUT THAT
