Becoming the Proverbs 1-30 Man [5-7]

Ok, another week of Proverbs! I am kinda excited to continue on! So, let us get started! Today's topics include more warning from the adulterous woman, being an ant, and more!Today's topics come from Proverbs 5-8

Proverbs 5: 3,6, & 21: Staying away from Adultery

(3)For the lips of the adulterous woman drip honey,
and her speech is smoother than oil;

(6)She gives no thought to the way of life;
her paths wander aimlessly, but she does not know it.

(21)For your wars are in full view of the LORD,
and he examines all your paths.

No one said that resisting temptations is easy, but it is ever so important! In verse 3, we see that she is cunning and doesn't make the temptation any easier. Her paths will lead nowhere; she will not lead you to good. We must always keep in my mind that the LORD sees everything we do, all day, err day, 24/7. That is always a good reminder to have because then we feel guilty and we end up staying away from the temptation! Always a good wake up call! Just remember that HE is watching always, not wanting us to fall into temptation.

Proverbs  6:6, 16-19, 20

(6) Go to the ant, you sluggard;
consider its ways and be wise!

(16-19) There are six things the LORD hates,
seven that are detestable to him
haughty eyes,
a lying tongue,
hands that shed innocent blood,
a heart that devises wicked schemes,
feet that are quick to rush into evil,
a false witness who pours out lies,
and a person who stirs up conflict in the community.

(20) My son, keep your father's command
and do not forsake your mother's teaching.

I really really like this chapter! I think there are so many important lessons here! For example, verse 6! I know it is summer, but does that mean we shouldn't be proactive? No, we do not have an excuse for being lazy. Let's look at the ant! The ant doesn't really rest; it works so hard every day to make sure it has enough food. And then it gets stepped on... OK, sorry. haha. These 7 things that God hates, we should, obviously, not do them, but that is easier said than done... but definitely is something we need to strive for. And lastly, we see a very important verse! If verse 20 is repeated this much, shouldn't that mean something?

Proverbs 7:4-5 & 25
(4-5) Say to wisdom, "You are my sister,"
and to insight, "You are my relative."

They will keep you from the adulterous woman,
from the wayward woman with her seductive words.

(25) Do not let your heart turn to her ways
or stray into her paths.

It is important to have both wisdom and insight because they are necessary in order to help stay away from the adulterous woman. Also an important part is a good heart, if you have a good heart and a healthy heart, it  will be easier to ward off temptations.

Becoming the Proverbs 1-30 Man [2-4]

Hey y'all, um, first and for most I do have to apologize for taking fooorever with this post. All the excuses I have been making should be ignored, because there is no excuse.

So, this is the next installment of Becoming the Proverbs 1-30 Man. I've been reading through Proverbs and as I am, I am figuring out that even though, it is definitely not repetitive, it definitely has points that stand out. For example, listening to God and honoring parents.

So I found some great key verses in Chapters 2-4 in Proverbs!

2 v1-2 & 5-6
My son, if you accept my words
    and store up my commands within you,
turning your ear to wisdom
    and applying your heart to understanding

(5)then you will understand the fear of the Lord
    and find the knowledge of God.
For the Lord gives wisdom;
    from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.

2 v16 & 18-19
Wisdom will save you also from the adulterous woman,
    from the wayward woman with her seductive words,
(18)Surely her house leads down to death
    and her paths to the spirits of the dead.
19 None who go to her return
    or attain the paths of life.

3 v3
Let love and faithfulness never leave you;
    bind them around your neck,
    write them on the tablet of your heart.

3 v5-6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart
    and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him,
    and he will make your paths straight.

4 v7
The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom.
    Though it cost all you have, get understanding.

4 v23
Above all else, guard your heart,
    for everything you do flows from it.

These chapters are a little bit different from Chapter 1. In Chapter 2, it is the first time we see what type of women to stay away from, those who will lead us astray. And to the lady readers, y'all can adjust the verse to where it can be a bad guy who is going to lead you astray. So yeah, we need to stay away from those kind of people because we don't want to stumble. When you think of Proverbs, one of the most known verses is Proverbs 3:5-6, because 1, it is a great verse and 2, you can learn a lot from it. We need to trust God in all of our situations, tough or easy. We cannot rely on our own strengths, but rather we need to rely on God and he will guide us in the way we need to go. I love verse 7 of chapter 4! When I read it I thought it was so funny! The beginning of wisdom is... GET WISDOM! So I'll conclude here... for now :)

I hope you aren't too mad at me... because I am kinda mad at myself for postponing this. And again if you like this, you can hit the follow button! It is always cool to see people like my stuff!

Becoming the Proverbs 1-30 Man [1]

Well, at a conference I went to a very amazing sister gave a very inspirational talk, and one of the things that spoke out to me was, "Men, do not expect a Proverbs 31 woman, until you become a Proverbs 1-30 man." So this got me thinking, and the best way to becoming the Proverbs 1-30 man is to... READ PROVERBS! So I switched gears from my devotions in the Gospels, to reading Proverbs and taking notes. So thank you females for reading this post, but be warned, it might not be all too relevant.

So I only recently just started doing this so the format of this series, I am so excited, is going to be key verses from the chapter. (I do not like to over blog, so at most I will blog every other day, but don't expect that), and an explanation, and if there are any ladies that one must "watch out for", I will also include the verses and explanations.

1 v7
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge,
    but fools[c] despise wisdom and instruction.

1 v8
Listen, my son, to your father’s instruction
    and do not forsake your mother’s teaching.

1 v10
My son, if sinful men entice you,
    do not give in to them.

1 v19 (in reference to v11-18)
Such are the paths of all who go after ill-gotten gain;
    it takes away the life of those who get it.

1 v33
but whoever listens to me will live in safety
    and be at ease, without fear of harm.”

OK, so in this chapter there are lots of warnings and rebukes, (I think generally in Proverbs there are a lot of warnings and rebuke, but also a lot of wisdom) So let us begin with the first verse. God is by far the most powerful, he is omnipotent and omniscient, meaning all powerful and all-knowing. So in our lives, the wisest decision one will ever make is to decide to follow Christ. That is one of the most important/crucial things to becoming the Proverbs 1-30 man! It is to follow Jesus and to fear the Lord! The next verse can be taken a few different ways, I look to it as obeying and following the authority that God has bestowed unto our parents. So the next important step is to listen, obey, and to love your parents. Even if our parents aren't ideal, still respect and obey them within God's laws. Do not follow the paths of the evil for it will not be good for you. Those who fall into deep sin usually have a hard time to get up from it, so don't even play with the fire and just flee from that path. The utmost important thing is to listen to God, God has things in store for us that we can't even imagine! Why would we even want to not listen to him?

So in order to become the Proverbs 1-30 Man:
Fear God
Listen/Honor Parents
Do not fall into temptations
Stay away from temptations
Listen to the Lord

I hope y'all enjoy this series as much as I do! :D
