Wow! I went snowboarding this weekend. Yes this means I am super tired and I am @ school. I have to admit, in choosing snowboarding over skiing was a better idea than skiing, but my reasons were not that great. I fell into peer pressure, everybody was snowboarding, except the lower class men and exchange students. So lots of things happened that were quite unfortunate.
We had to wake up @ 3:30, and we got there at 8ish, and we didn't even start until 10:30ish. When we were on the practice grounds, I sucked so much. Later I learned, everyone is worse on the practice ground, because there are loads of people, and it's flat. Well, I am a very impatient person at times, so after 15 min of getting no where at the practice grounds, I wanted to go on the bunny slope. So I went with 2 other people. Right when I got to the top, I fastened my other boot, and found out it broke, I decided I could still snowboard, I really could have, but I wasn't even off the starting point, and I was already failing, so I just sat in the snow for a while, but later I decided to walk down the hill. I was really p'd. I felt I should have done skiing. I wasted my money, so I decided to wait for the others to come down, I watched them at the top of the hill, and they weren't moving. I thought they were waiting for me to come back up the mountain! So now I was freaking out! I was on the bottom of the slope for roughly 15 min waiting for them. I then felt super scared. I realized I might have to go back up! I was already so scared of snowboarding, and it was the bunny slope! So, I was pretty darn upset. So I walked to the shop to get my board fixed. While waiting, I realized my face was super uncomfortable... I rubbed it and took a picture of my face with my phone. My worst fears were confirmed, I had hives. >.<
So now, I was super tired, I waited an uber long time, I wasn't good, My board broke, I wasted lots of money, I had to walk down the slopes, I had to wait a while for my friends, I realized they were waiting for me, I had to wait for the guy to fix my board. So WOW! It doesn't end, of course it doesn't because I haven't gotten treatment yet. So he fixed my board, I headed out. I decided to call my youth pastor to call the people sitting on the slopes. But 10 min later, I found him! I was so talkative for the next 2 minutes, and they didn't catch anything... So me and my youth pastor went to the van which was a good 5 minutes away, and realized there was no Benadryl! So we went to the front desk, and they didn't have any... So they redirected use to the first aid place. They weren't allowed to carry any... They redirected us to a place near the ice rink, and they didn't have any either! SO HAPPY! not really... They told us we had to go out of the resort to get some... So I decided I would be fine and we carried on back to the slopes. When we returned, my board was gone.... I was super upset by now, so we reported it, and it turned out someone had taken my board, realized it wasn't their's and put it back in the wrong place. So we went back to the slopes!
I was super scared, because I did horrible before. I did it and I only fell twice! I was quite proud of myself! I was SO HAPPY! I was relieved that I would be able to have a good time, and not waste my moneys! Then it was lunch, and I had 3 bowls of chili :P I was hungry and it was warm so yea. That's my defense.
So we went back, and did the bunny slope 5 more times. Dan, my youth pastor, Lydia, and I decided to do a harder one. We accidentally went down the harder one... Yea... So the previous ski lift took about a minute. The harder one took over 5 minutes. Lydia and I were freaking out a lot by the time we approached 3 minutes and didn't see an end. We saw that the slopes were so so so steep! We were really really scared. So it wasn't really bad. It was a long run, but it was really really fun. The bad thing was the snow jets, since the resort was in NC, snow wasn't there, so they had to use artificial jets, and hence the snow blowing in our faces as we went down. I was so happy, that I didn't pay attention when the trail forked... I was so shocked to see Dan and Lydia on the other side of the fence! I then stop and try to head back, but to no avail. So I continued on, not knowing my fate. So I see a sign up ahead, it said freestyle terrain. I started to pray right there and then that I would not end up breaking bones like a guy at my school did. I realized that the slopes were so much harder. At first, I was thinking that I was going to avoid the hills and slopes, but I couldn't turn fast enough! So I actually caught air because I was going so fast! The landing was great, but after the landing , to no surprise, I fell. So I didn't have enough momentum to get over the next obstacle... I had to hop around it and do the next jump. HAHA. yea.. So I then went down another hill, and fell again after an awesome jump and landing. So I was done with the jumps and stuff, and it was just a super steep hill. I was pretty sure I would nail, it but I fell twice... I finished it without breaking anything!

Yea I caught as much air! But I probably didn't get the same landing :P BTW that's not me! |
I was too tired to go again, so I went to hang out @ the van with others. Later, we went to eat, and I had Chinese, I ate it because I didn't want Subway. So we went back and I couldn't find my sunglasses, so I decided to go anyway, and that I would be fine. BOY! Was I wrong! The ski jets were one even higher because it was dark, and practically no one was there! So the snow that used to just get in the way, were like ice pellets drilling into your face. I went once and decided I would go again. So I went up with my youth pastor and two other girls who were skiing. Right off the bat, they leave me... My snowboard was kinda retarded. It didn't work to secure the boots... but it was really hard that particular time... So then I was sitting there for 10 mins to fix the boots. It didn't work until I took the whole board off and did the other foot first. So I went down, and it hurt so much due to the snow, and then when I get down, we realized we lost a person, we looked for her on the slopes for 30 min, but she was in the canteen the whole time >.<
So we went back to the hotel, and we had pizza @ 11:30. It was really good! Pepperoni and Olives, and Sausage and Pineapple. 2 Large 2 Topping Pizzas for $19.99. It was really good and the trip was super fun!
Kwok Choy :)
