The Voice Season 2 Episode Recaps with DJ Kwokodile [#9}

A round of melodramatic battles, battles is the worst time of The Voice for me, because all the bad decisions get made.

1. [True Colors] - James Massone vs. WADE
I first heard this song, not by Cyndi Lauper, but by Anna Graceman on America's Got Talent. I was quite satisfied by the song, but I knew she wasn't going to make it pass. Oh well. James and WADE were pretty good, except for the fact that WADE was so nervous! He sounded a bit off because of this. All coaches picked James, so Cee Lo picked James.

2. [Love Song] - Mathai vs. Nicolle Galyon
I feel like this was the best one of the night, in a sense that it was the person I wanted to win. I liked the fact that Nicolle wasn't allowed to use her piano, because that would give her too much of an edge. I enjoyed the performance, Mathai was the obvious winner for me, and she won! Adam picked Mathai

3. [(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction] - Moses Stone vs. The LiNE
Wow! I have so many mixed feelings about this battle. One of me says, good job Christina! You want to diversify your team, you have all genres! Another side says, this is The Voice, not The Entertainment. The LiNE obviously had the better voice then Moses, but Moses did have stage presence. Christina ultimately picked Moses. Sending the 2nd 4 Chair turnaround home, after Whitney Myer.

4. [Easy] - Karla Davis vs. Orlando Napier
Worst battle of the night, neither branched out. I was quite disappointed, Adam picked Karla.

5. [I'm Yours] - Naia Kete vs. Jordan Rager
I was quite upset that Naia didn't bloom in her song, it was fitted for her, but she couldn't hit the notes. Jordan was quite good in the song, but he couldn't harmonize. All of the coaches picked Naia, including Blake. Blake picked Naia.

6. [Faithfully] - Tony Vincent vs. Justin Hopkins
I thought this was good. Tony creeps me out a little, because of the Green Day background, let's just say I'm glad he is married and has a kid. This was a decent performance. I loved the Whoa-whoa part. CeeLo picked Tony.

Battles are over! YES! Live Shows starting Monday, @8 on NBC and Tuesday is the results show! starting @9!

The Voice Season 2 Recaps with DJ Kwokodile [#8]

Very bad bad round, I must admit >.<

1. [You Know I'm No Good] - Pip vs. Nathan Parrett
I thought it was quite sad that BFF's were paired together, but they sounded really good together! I would have to say that Pip was a shoo in. Adam picked Pip.

2. [What's Love Got to Do With It] - Erin Martin vs. The Shields Brothers!
Wow! Worse battle so far! They sounded bad, Erin's uniqueness didn't shine in this song. The brothers were better, but were still off key. Terrible! Cee Lo picked Erin.

3. [No Air] - Ashley De La Rosa vs. Jonathas
Christina must take so much time to figure out the battle pairings and songs, since they all turn out so well, with No Air with Ashley and Jonathas, and Heart-Shaped Box with Lindsey and Lee. They were really good, but Jonathas kept to his voice, and didn't sound good. Christina picked Ashley.

4. [Get Outta My Dreams, Get Into My Car] - Jermaine Paul vs. ALyX
They were pretty good. It was a little boring, but the vocals were there. Jermaine is very very strong, Blake picked Jermaine.

5. [Bleeding Love] - Katrina Parker vs. Angel Taylor
So sad, Angel didn't perform well because of the song. Katrina shined really bright in this song, and Adam picked her.

6. [We Belong] - Erin Willett vs. Gwen Sebastian
They were both really good, I would have gone with Gwen, but it was Blake's ultimate choice. Blake picked Erin. I actually heard that Gwen is now backgrounding for Blake in his tour, so it was a win for her, even though she lost.

Last battles next Monday!
Pairings are as following:
The LiNE vs. Moses Stone
Naia Kete vs. Jordan Rager
Justin Hopkins vs. Tony Vincent
Karla Davis vs. Orlando Napier
James Massone vs. WADE
Nicolle Galyon vs. Mathai! <-- best for last!

Cream of Spinach Soup with Crab with Kid Fudi

I made my own Cream of Spinach Soup with Crab from scratch! Yes from scratch! This is also my own recipe, no copying offline. I haven't done that before actually, except with the Betty Crocker Molten Lava Cake

These are the ingredients you will need. (I didn't show garlic and crab, because I improvised that at last minute) Baby Spinach, Milk, a Pot, Corn Starch, 2 cloves of garlic (to taste), imtitation crab, and optionally chicken powder or Better Than Buillon: Chicken.

Roughly chop the spinach and imitation crab separately and finely chop the garlic. The roughness will give the spinach a rustic look.
Boil down the spinach, and drain all water, and then put it back on the stove, you must watch the spinach so it doesn't burn or the pot doesn't burn!

Finish draining, and add milk and cornstarch (as much as needed to make soup thicken) Also add garlic in. Season as needed, like salt and pepper.
Add the crab in, and when the soup boils again, turn the stove off. Place in a nice bowl or deep plate and serve!

Top with French's Fried Onions! Serve and EAT UP!

What Gorgeous Soup! Cream of Spinach Soup with Crab that is made from Scratch! Hope you enjoy it as much as I do! This was a pretty good original was it not???

EK5 with DJ Kwokodile 3/16/12

Lots of new songs! This is flooded with new songs! I am quite happy, so I will release early!

1. [Heart-Shaped Box] - Lindsey Pavao vs. Lee Koch
This is an amazing song! As Adam Levine puts it, it is delightfully creepy. This Indie/Alternative sounding song is really good. She sings with such passion and amazing-ness it is really shocking. She was pretty neck and neck with Lee Koch in their battle. I thought they complimented each other really well. So sad that only one of them got to go on.

2. [Pumped Up Kicks] - Charlotte Sometimes vs. Lex Land
Another great cover/battle. I think that we saw a new side of Lex that I didn't expect. I didn't think Lex did exceptionally at the blind auditions, but she bloomed pretty well. This really was a battle. Charlotte was so intimidating toward Lex and it didn't get to their heads. Lex did really good, but I felt like Charlotte did better.

3. [Fantastic Baby] - BIGBANG
Had this song stuck in my head all week. I love KPop! This translates into Korean Pop! It is a great genre, but I feel like all the artists dress extremely weird. I can listen to their music, but not the music videos. The music video for this is just creepy. It is a really catchy song and I love it!

4. [Somebody That I Used To Know (A Cappella)] - Sam Tsui
This is so good and hilarious, so many Sam heads! I love the original and this is a great cover, another great cover is the one with 5 people playing 1 guitar! I do like this version, very nice lyrics, and catchy.

5. [Chain of Fools] - Sera Hill vs. Geoff McBride
Chain Chain Chaaain Chain of Foools! Wow this is such an amazing song! Aretha Franklin and R&B all the way! Sera and Geoff did an amazing job covering this song. The chorus will always hit me!

Lovely music today! This is actually not due until tomorrow, but I'll post it early! 3/15/12!

The Voice Season 2 Recaps with DJ Kwokodile [#7]

This was a great night for battles! Almost all my faves were this night!

1. [Chain of Fools] - Sera Hill vs. Geoff McBride
I love this song because of them! chain chain chaaain chain of fools! Haha, they were obviously neck and neck and I had no idea who I liked more. Christina was smarter to pick Sera because she would be more of a crowd pleaser.

2. [Pumped Up Kicks] - Charlotte Sometimes vs. Lex Land
I love this song! I have so many different versions of it! I love their version though. Lex showed a side of her I didn't expect to see! She sounded amazing but Charlotte sounded better. Their duet was so good! Blake picked the stronger one, Charlotte.

3. [Stay With Me] - Juliet Simms vs. Sarah Golden
I felt that Cee Lo picked the wrong song. Juliet was rocking in one corner, and Sarah is adding a folky twist. Juliet is by far the stronger one. I'm glad Cee Lo picked her!

4. [No More Drama] - Kim Yarbrough vs. Whitney Myer
I thought this song was the worse of the night. It's not because I don't like R&B but I just felt Whitney nor Kim brought it. Kim was the winner of battle, and Adam was smart to pick her.

5. [Heart-Shaped Box] - Lindsey Pavao vs. Lee Koch
This was the best song of the night, it wasn't very exciting, but it was sung well. These indie artists were so good. Lee added a special element as well as Lindsey. They pleasantly surprised me. It was really good, and I was so glad that Christina picked Lindsey

6. [I Want to Know What Love Is] - Jamar Rogers vs. Jamie Lono
I was so upset when Jamar was paired with Jamie. I liked them both. I felt like Jamar was the stronger and he beat Jamie. Cee Lo picked Jamar.

Good round of battles tonight! Excited for next week! I think Pip is next week! So excited!

The Voice Season 2 Episode Recaps with DJ Kwokidile [#6]

Sorry this is very late. I was very busy last week and the battles were very disappointing until the last one.

1. [Beautiful Day] - Tony Lucca vs. Chris Cauley
I felt that the song wasn't sung great by either of them, but I did like Tony from the Battle Rounds a lot, and he did have a better voice, so I was glad that Adam picked Tony over Chris.

2. [Free Fallin'] - RaeLynn vs. Adley Stump
I felt like this battle wasn't judged correctly. Adley took this battle. RaeLynn does have a more unique voice, but she ruined her battle. She was off key and her voice was very flat. I noticed that Adley had to adjust to RaeLynn's voice, that's why she didn't sound that great either. I think Adley should've won, but ultimately Blake chose RaeLynn.

3. [The Power of Love] - Chris Mann vs. Monique Benabou
I thought that Monique would be really bad, but I was pleasantly surprised that the duet was good. Chris does have more experience as a classical artist and does sound better. I'm glad that Christina picked Chris.

4. [Total Eclipse of the Heart] - Cheesa vs. Angie Johnson
I thought Angie Johnson was better in this battle, but Cee Lo is the coach, not me. Cheesa did sound good , but It thought Angie sounded better. That is my final words, or I might say things. Cee Lo picked Cheesa.

5. [Ironic] - Jordis Unga vs. Brian Fuente
I love this song, and Jordis did good, she was nervous but she pulled out on top. Blake picked Jordis!

6. [If Ain't Got You] - Jesse Campbell vs. Anthony Evans
Christina was quite not smart for pairing these two, but in the end it was the best performance of the night, by far! Anthony was super! and so was Jesse! They retaliated at each other so much and it was so fun to watch and listen too. Anthony with his high notes and Jesse with his voice. Christina picks Jesse :)

iTunes didn't release any duet songs this year :( so I have no album covers for you today :(

UPDATE! I did add album covers!!

EK5 with DJ Kwokodile 3/12/12

WOOHOO! Yay for EK5! I had a revoultionary idea! I can do an EK5! I will post it twice a week! EK5 will come out on Friday! This is a very much influenced week of covers and alternative. My internet isn't functioning  that well, so no more youtube links.

1. [Ironic] - Alanis Morissette
I first heard this song via The Voice  by Jordis Unga vs. Brian Fuente. I was blown away by the lyrics and I wanted to hear the real version, and it turned out to be better! The lyrics are so clever because they are so funny! Ex. Mr. Play-It-Safe was afraid to fly, he packed his suit case and kissed his kids goodbye, He waited his whole dang life to take that flight. And as the plane crashed down he thought, "Well isn't this nice." ROFL haha I love it such a funny song! Love 90s music :)

2. [Ironic] - Jordis Unga
She totally didn't have as much recognition for this song she covered. She totally was nervous, but she deserved the win. Jordis was on a rocker show and to see her on The Voice is a great experience. She does have a lot of power to this song.

3. [Dreams Like Oceans] - Meg & Dia
This song blew me away. I heard a flute cover of this song, and I was like HECK YES! I listened to it and I fell in love instantly with oh oh oh oh oh oh part. That is so awesome! Meg & Dia is my favorite band and this song  just shows their range, from rock to indie to alternative. It is so good!

4. [Say Aah] - Lindsey Pavao
She's battling tonight :) She is against Lee Koch and she is going to oust him! I really like this song, because I remember the rap version of that. I liked it a lot and I thought the way she did the song was even better than the rap. That usually is the case, and I felt that she really showed her indie roots! Yay for Indie songs!

5. [Bullseye] - Dia Frampton
Dia was my favorite from last season if y'all didn't already know. I was really upset that she lost, but she has sold more albums than Javier and has more facebook likes so YAY! Xenia has both of them beat, but I'm not mad, well maybe, but I love her as well because her voice is so unique. When I found out that Isabella Summers, Florence + The Machine, I was so excited, at first I didn't like the song, but after a couple months, I totally love it. I was more into poppish stuff back then, but now I like alternative music a little more, so Bullseye is totally an awesome alternative song.

Lots of Indie tonight :) Love Indie well looking forward for next playlist this Friday. I guarantee that Charlotte Sometimes will be on this list!
